Government > Parks > Facilities Union’s City Parks, Open Space and Recreation Facilities The citizens of Union have made substantial investments in parks, open space and recreation facilities. The Parks and Recreation Department is committed to preserving these investments now and into the future by providing high quality maintenance of these community resources.
Union City Park Union City Park is located at the corners of Christina and Park Streets. The park offers a large playground, pavilions, benches and lighted walking path. Follow the path across one of the two bridges to access basketball courts, tennis courts, a picnic shelter and another playground. Union City Park has three baseball fields located behind the Swimplex Swimming Pool with concession stands and restrooms. The large baseball field has a covered wooden grandstand. A small field exists behind the American Legion and one at the fairgrounds. To rent one of these fields go to the Parks and Recreation Department located in the downstairs of City Hall 500 E. Locust St., call 636-583-8471 or e-mail Angie Breeden, Program Coordinator at abreeden@ci.union.mo.us The Union City Park has nice pavilions of various sizes and amenities available for rent. For more information, click here. Union Swimplex Swimming Pool Union Swimplex is located at 375 West Park Road. The pool opens May 30th. Public Swim is from noon to 6PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 12:30pm to 6PM on Tuesday and Thursday. Senior Swim (age 55 and over) is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30am-12:30pm and is FREE. Admission is $4 (children 2 and under are free with a paid adult) or punch cards are available $35 for 20 visits. For information, call (636) 583-3316.
Union City Lake Union City Lake is located on Clark Vitt Drive and offers 3 acres of fishing, bird watching, picnicking, walking or just a great place to sit and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Benches, walk path, picnic tables and shade/rain shelters are available on site. Clark Vitt Park Clark Vitt Park is located on Clark Vitt Drive across from the City Lake has restrooms, playground (to be completely remodeled in the summer of 2007). Clark Vitt also offers a nice walking path through a natural area with beautiful scenery and wild flowers in the spring. Hoffert Park Hoffert Park is a lovely little community park mainly accessible by residents on the south side of Highway 50. Residents enjoy a playground with swings, other play equipment and a picnic area. |
