The City Clerk, appointed by the Board of Aldermen, is the keeper of the City’s permanent records and the City Seal.  The Clerk shall affix her signature and the seal to all ordinances, resolutions and any other official document of the City.

Other duties of the City Clerk include:

  • Preparation of Board of Aldermen Agendas and Packets which includes preparing the agenda, ordinances and resolutions.
  • Post and request publication of public notices as required.
  • Administering oath of office for elected officials and certain employee positions.
  • Preparation of minutes of Board of Aldermen meetings.
  • Preparation for permanent records of Ordinances, Contracts, Resolutions and Minutes after approval by the Board of Aldermen.
  • Maintain the City of Union Municipal Code Book by overseeing ordinance book updates and re-codification.
  • Verify all contracts are fully executed and are accompanied by documents required by government entities and within the agreement made.
  • Record applicable documents at the Franklin County Recorder of Deeds Office.
  • Prepare and maintain the City of Union Cemetery record, including the sale of cemetery spaces, process requests for internments.
  • Process Home Occupation License Applications.
  • Process New and Renewed Liquor License Applications, for Board of Aldermen approval.
  • Respond to Record Requests according to Missouri Sunshine Laws.
  • Certifies the validity of City documents for court evidence.
  • Coordinate with the Franklin County Clerk for City elections.
