Community > Scenic Regional Library District
Serving the Franklin, Gasconade and Warren County Library District, the system operates seven libraries and a bookmobile serves rural communities and schools in the tri-county area. Along with the Union facility, other library branches are located in Hermann, New Haven, Owensville, Pacific, St. Clair, and Warrenton. A wide-range of materials and services are offered by the library. These may be viewed online at www.scenicregional.org. The first library in Union was organized in 1935 by members of Chapter FO, P.E.O. It remained a non-tax supported library until 1958 when the Franklin County Library District was established by a vote of the people. A year later the Franklin County Library District joined the newly formed Gasconade and Warren County Library Districts to form Scenic Regional Library. In 1991, the Union library moved into a new facility built with funds generously donated by Meta Vossbrink, a former member of Chapter FO, along with a grant from the Library Services & Construction Act. Oliver Taetz donated the land for the new building, which is located on Hawthorne Drive and US Hwy 50. For more information, contact:
