Business Opportunities > Highway 50 Commercial Corridor

This growing commercial corridor is right off Interstate 44 and stretches for about 5 miles through the middle of Union from East Denmark Road to just west of Independence Drive.

With traffic counts approaching 20,000 vehicles daily, it's not surprising to see numerous local landmarks along this important stretch of roadway.

Here you will find the vast majority of retail shopping outlets in the community along with fast food restaurants and larger developments such as Barreth Ford Center, Dickey Bub True Value Hardware, Super 8 Motel, Fink's Discount Foods, and Heartland Pharmacy Center.

In recent years, new commercial development has been concentrating on a 1.5 mile eastern stretch of US 50 from the City's Regional Center East commercial park to the Prairie Dell Intersection.

In this booming area you will find large tracts of available land anchored by larger landmarks such as a Wal-Mart Supercenter, East Central College, the Great 8 Cinema, Ashley Furniture, United Bank of Union, and the new Fire House No. 3 of the Union Fire Department.

New retail shops and restaurants in this area are also under construction at the Prairie Dell Centre and Prairie Dell Plaza.

With new subdivisions and new homes being built around the growing U.S. Highway 50 corridor in Union, the commercial opportunities are immense for new businesses wanting to reach under-served markets.
